Loch Ness Monster
The Loch Ness Monster, also called Nessie, is a supposedly mythological creature that lives in the Loch Ness Lake in Scotland. It is thought to be the last of a long line of living plesiosaurs, a type of aquatic dinosaur from millions of years ago. It was first sighted on May 2, 1923, by Alex Campbell. The first expedition was conducted by Sir Edward Mountain in 1934, followed by the Loch Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau from 1962- 1972, and many others.
Some people believe this monster is just a myth. Some believe it is real. Others yet think that is is another animal, such as a giant eel or a seal, or an inanimate object, such as a chunk of wood or even a release of seismic gases.
El Chupacabra
El chupacabra is a legendary cryptid that roams the Americas. It sucks all of the blood out of livestock animals, mainly goats, as its name literally means 'goat sucker'. It has been spotted as far north as Maine, and as far south as Chile. There are many different descriptions of this monster. The main description is heavy, the size of a bear cub, with a row of large, sharp spines from its neck to its tail.
The first sightings of this monster was in March 1995 in Puerto Rico when it killed around 1000 farm animals. It has been spotted many times since then.
In 2010, an animal was killed in Texas, and it was claimed to be a chupacabra. However, biologists dismissed this idea, saying it was a coyote infected with parasites. Modern scientists believe that there may be a whole pack of these sick coyotes, forming the basis of the chupacabra legends.
Mokele-Mbembe
Mokele-Mbembe is supposedly a large, water-dwelling dinosaur-like herbivore of the Congo River Basin (river in Africa, deepest river in the world). Sometimes this monster is described as a living monster, sometimes a spirit. It dwells in the Lake Tèlè area. It is most likely a reptile. Some legends describe it as having an elephant-like body with a long neck and tail and a small head, a description which has been suggested to be similar in appearance to that of the extinct Sauropoda. It is brownish-grey in color.
One legend says that a physical creature resembling a sauropod attacked a village. One of the citizens killed it with a spear (although it is nearly impossible to kill a large creature with only a spear). The citizens feasted on the meat. All who ate the meat died of an unnatural disease shortly after.
